For us, food is simply part of a holiday in Denmark.
On this page we collect traditional dishes from Ærø and all over Denmark, personal favourite recipes and dishes we particularly enjoy cooking at Dansk Cottage.
Some recipes are true classics, others have a very personal story. And perhaps one or two of them taste just a little bit better on holiday on Ærø.

Dansk Cottage Original
Our tribute to the island: cured salmon with toasted walnuts, aquavit, fennel and lemon zest.
For us, good food is part of our time on Ærø. After a day on the water, a bike ride across the island or a long walk, a shared meal at the cottage tastes especially good.
That is why this recipe collection is meant to grow over time – with Danish classics, recipes from Ærø and dishes we love to cook for family, friends and guests.
