Denmark's most beautiful small town
With its cobbled streets and colourful half-timbered houses, Ærøskøbing is one of the best-preserved historic small towns in Denmark.
The historic old town of Ærøskøbing invites you to stroll through narrow lanes lined with lovingly preserved houses from the 17th and 18th centuries. The little harbour, cosy cafés and restaurants make the town a popular destination for day trips.

A genuine time-travel house in the centre of Ærøskøbing: the sculptor Gunnar Hammerich used the red half-timbered house from 1916 as a holiday home until his death in 1977 and bequeathed it, together with over 2,500 objects, to the town – preserved unchanged to this day. Now part of the Ærø Museum, a combined ticket for both houses is available.
