Travelling with a dog

To enter Denmark with a dog you need an EU pet passport issued by a vet with a valid rabies vaccination, as well as a microchip implanted before the 8th week of life – the vaccination must have been given at least 3 weeks before entry. Please always check the current entry requirements with the relevant official authorities in good time, as regulations can change.

Good to know at the beach

From 1 April to 30 September, dogs must be kept on a lead on Danish beaches
From 1 October to 31 March, dogs may run free on the beach under supervision
In forests, dogs must be kept on a lead all year round
Practically every beach on Ærø is dog-friendly
