Every summer, Ærø turns into a jazz island for a few days – with concerts in special venues and a relaxed summer atmosphere.
Concerts in Ærøskøbing, at the harbours and in small halls create a very special atmosphere. Alongside established musicians, up-and-coming artists also perform regularly.
You will find current dates, the programme and tickets for the Ærø Jazz Festival on the festival's official website. If you want to stay on Ærø during the festival, you should book accommodation early.
The Ærø Jazz Festival traditionally takes place in calendar week 31 (end of July / beginning of August) and runs from Wednesday to Saturday. It opens with a festive jazz parade through the lanes of Ærøskøbing – after that, two venues shape the festival:
The heart of the festival: at the old shipyard in Ærøskøbing harbour, numerous bands play from morning until midnight – with a fairground atmosphere for young and old. Entry is with a festival wristband.
In the historic cinema Andelen in the town centre, intimate vocal jazz concerts take place every evening – known for comfortable seats and excellent acoustics. Tickets for these concerts are sold separately and are limited, so it is worth booking early.
