Web design for retail
Range, offers, opening hours and advice – a website that brings people from your region into your shop.
Many customers find out online before they set off: Does the shop stock what I’m looking for? Is it open today? Will I get advice there? A good website answers these questions – with or without an online shop.
You rarely win against big online retailers on price – but you can on advice, choice in store and personal service. Online, however, exactly these strengths are often invisible.
A full online shop is too much effort for many shops: maintaining product data, shipping, returns, legal obligations. At the same time, customers want at least an overview of the range and brands.
Whether bookshop, fashion store, bike shop or delicatessen: the goal is usually a visit to the shop. The website shows why it is worthwhile.
Categories, brands and selected products with good photos – without having to maintain every single item.
A section for promotions, new arrivals and events in the shop.
Address, directions, parking and opening hours – aligned with your Google Business Profile.
Product enquiry, advice appointment or reserve-and-collect: forms that match your service.
If a shop makes sense, we look together at connecting an existing shop solution. It is not included in any package and is quoted separately.
Owner-run shops have a story. Tell it: who advises, since when, why this range.
A good website makes your shop visible even when it is closed – and gives people a reason to come by.
An online shop only if it really pays off for you.
1. Initial consultation: free and without obligation – by phone, video, email or WhatsApp. We clarify what your website should achieve, what content already exists and which package fits.
2. Written quote: with a fixed price and a clearly described scope. You can review it conveniently online and sign it digitally.
3. Build: design, copy, technology and search engine fundamentals. We incorporate your feedback in rounds of revisions (PREMIUM: up to two, PROFESSIONAL: three).
4. Launch: on your domain, with SSL encryption and technically integrated legal notice and privacy pages.
5. Afterwards: hosting & support at a fixed monthly price if you wish – or you run the website with your own provider.
In retail it pays to talk about goals in the initial consultation: should more people come into the shop, do you want to ship goods, or mainly book advice appointments? We then align structure and features accordingly.
Dansk Cottage Digital is run by Arndt and Jan Floto from Hamburg. We conceived, wrote, designed and built the multilingual website of our holiday home Dansk Cottage ourselves – it is our most important reference project. More about us
A website with home page, range, offers, about us and contact fits within BASIC. More category pages, newsletter integration and reviews point to PREMIUM. An online shop is not included in any package and is quoted separately.
Not necessarily. A shop is worthwhile if you can and want to ship goods, keep product data up to date and handle shipping and returns. For many shops, a good overview of the range with the option to enquire about items or reserve them for collection is enough to start with. A shop can be added later if the need arises.
Three things work together: a complete Google Business Profile with the right category, opening hours and photos; a website that clearly names location, range and services; and consistent contact details everywhere online. Nobody can guarantee a particular ranking – but these fundamentals improve your chances.
With categories, brands and selected example products. Visitors see what you stock and learn that there is more in the shop. Show changing individual items where you post quickly anyway, for example on social media – the website links to it.
At minimum: what you sell, where to find you, when you are open and how to reach you. Depending on the shop, current offers, a personal introduction, advice services and information on service, repairs or ordering are added.
Our packages cost €1,490 (BASIC), €2,490 (PREMIUM) or €3,990 (PROFESSIONAL), each excl. VAT. Hosting & support is optional from €49 excl. VAT per month. An online shop is not included; if you want one, we quote it separately.
Tell us what you sell and what makes your shop special. We will get back to you personally and discuss whether a presentation website is enough or a shop makes sense.
No obligation and free of charge – we will get back to you personally.
